PROMOTING ACTION FOR COMMUNITY CARE AND EMPOWERMENT (PACE) - PROJECT

AIM
To reduce the effect of socioeconomic and health (mental, spiritual, physical) risk factors amongst vulnerable groups.

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES
  • Investigate socioeconomic and health risk and protective factors amongst vulnerable groups
  • Develop a faith-based strategy to empower people to identify; communicate with; and refer those ‘at-risk’ to appropriate services
  • Evaluate effectiveness, feasibility, acceptance and satisfaction

ACTIVITIES
  • Establish a network of stakeholders
  • Investigate socioeconomic and health risk and protective factors
  • Generate awareness of these issues
  • Provide ICR training to community members and gatekeepers
  • Develop a directory of services
  • Evaluate PACE programme
  • Recommend a faith-based model of reducing the effect of socioeconomic and health risk factors

TRAINING
The ICR strategy:
  • Identify those who may be ‘at-risk’ in some way
  • Communicate with that person about the potential difficulty
  • Refer them to an appropriate service, where necessary

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES
Vulnerable groups (single mothers, the elderly, immigrants and orphans), gatekeepers (deacons and catechists), other Faith-Based Organisations.
